I'm looking to put the c6 zo6 breaks on my c5. How many c5 owners have done this, and do you feel it was worth the money and time? I really like the way they look, and I'm sure they stop the car way better than the c5 zo6 breaks...... Who has the best prices around town?
I think the first stop is the forum for sale section. You can probably work out a deal from someone who is getting rid of their Z06 brake kit. Fred Bean (forum vendor)is also worth checking with.
I always liked the looks of the C6 Z06 brakes. They are an improvement over stock but not the best set up for all out racing-although I've never heard anything negative about them from road tests in any of the major magazines. You must use correct wheels and spacing but they are a direct bolt on to the C5 and really fill out the wheel. Shop around for the best pricing. I have the set up and I'm very happy with mine.
Thanks I have done that, but I seem to be that bird that was late, and didn't get the worm. Ill check with this vendor you speak of
Thanks

I mainly want mine for looks and better breaking. I don't do any kind of racing, unless I run up on someone on interstate. Then I may play a little with ya.
Thanks

I got mine off of a forum member about a year ago. I paid $1100 plus alittle more for braided brake lines from L.A.P.D. They are a good improvement over the stock brakes especially with the 345 tires I am running now! They look much better too!
I would do this if I can ever get someone to confirm the minimum inside diameter needed to clear the fronts brakes. 18" wheels do not guarantee enough clearance.
Try Fred Beans or GMPartshouse for the best prices on GM parts.

18" wheels will work fine. It is not the diameter that is the problem in the front(the rear will work with about any wheel), it is the width of the big calipers up front. You will need an offset that is 5/8" more than the stock front offset. DRM has heavy duty spacers and hardened lug studs for the application. I used their stuff when I put the brakes on my vert.
I was told by corvettes of houston that they would clear my HRE 547's without a problem. He said they would not clear any 17inch wheel. I plan on putting mine on with very soon. I'm wondering??? How long does it take to install these, if you do it yourself?

It took me around 4 hours to do the install by myself. That includes changing the factory C6 Z brake lines out to the stainless ones from L.A.P.D. I also got speed bleeders installed on all the calipers to make bleeding the brakes much easier. Make sure you get all the air out of both bleeders on all four calipers. There are 8 bleeders total.
