how do wheels spacers work?

Im seeing these people with the L5 fender flares and somehow there wheels and tires fill up the entire new space but have the same size tire as me and mine dont stick out of the stock fenders at all. Do the spacers just move the wheels out a couple inches? Someone explain please.

Yes, the spacers move the wheel out. If you planning to use a set, get the hub centric type and make sure the studs and the spacers are of good strength.

the guys with the L5s are usually running a 345 tire that will stick out waaaaay beyond a stock fender.
