Default C5 or C5 Z

Im looking for a C5 or C5 Z again, I have owned a 2001 C5Z, and had several issues with oil rings (burning oil) and TCM module with only 16K miles.

Should I be looking at a C5 coupe to save a few bucks or is the Z really that much better. I loved my 01 Z, but I have never really driven a regular C5.

Help me out! Please

Get whichever style you like best. They can all be made to go a little faster if needed!

Get the Z!! Just to be sure, run a Carfax. If you get it from a dealer, also have the dealer pull the service records from their database.

The Z is a ball to drive but the coupe can be more comfortable because of the seats and telescoping steering column. Either can be made to go faster than stink so I vote w/ the manual coupe. My DD is an '03 Z the wife's is an '02 vert. Hers is more comfortable and w/ a few mods nearly as fast.

In my opinion, yes the Z is that much better and then some. I had a Coupe and there's some neat things about it, but one drive in a Z and kicked it, I was sold. You should go test drive one and see what you think!

I regret getting a Z06 because I have changed the suspension and the motor and the seats and the clutch and, etc.

Better ask yourself how stock you will be keeping it. If you will do only minor mods, then get the Z. If you do major mods, get the base. If you do major mods but like the hardtop look (which I do), get an FRC.

Just my 2.

I love my Z but, after putting in an ECS cam package, ECS seats, 04 Z06 shocks, and using ccw rims and mpsc's at the track an frc would have been the better choice. The differenc in price would have probably paid for all of the mods.

The real answer is to drive one and see if you like it. My earlier post about the coupe/vert being more comfortable would have been clearer if I had explained that I am 6'03" 240+ lbs. With the non telescoping steering column I have to do a lot of compromising to get the seat set up to where I have any chance at a proper driving position. It's pretty tough to heel/toe when your knee is jambed into the bottom of the steering wheel and you're sitting straight up to reach the steering wheel that up a click from where you might want it except that your legs are in the way. Just a personal opinion but the c-6 Z has a better driving position.

Me too. I have no intention whatsoever of modding mine and it already had headers when I bought it. So the Z was the best choice.

Will you track the car on a road course??

Will you miss the open targa roof on sunny days?

Can you pay for the Z--does the price delta make the Coupe significantly more comfortable?

Default Thanks so much!

I REALLY appreciate all the help I have recieved from all of you. Im 6'1" and 185lbs, so I fit in the Z. Im 27 and still appreciate the power of the Z over the coupe, but I do planning on mods, exhaust/cam and maybe heads later. I love the style of the regular coupe especially in black, and I wanted to try the removeable top.
However, my MX racing background is having a hard time letting me buy the regular C5 over the Z.

Seriously...thank you guys very much for your help, Im sure we will talk again soon.

I will let you guys know what I pick up!!!
