Default Key FOB question

Hey guys,

I bought a 97 C5 last march. I don't have a key FOB for it and was wondering if keyless entry was a standard option or did the owner have to request keyless entry. How can I tell if the car is equipped or not. I really would like to have it. My local dealership wanted 240 bucks for a new FOB so I didn't want to buy it and not have it work.

All C5's had keyless entry. The first generation of C5's used a fob that looks like this -

These are the most expensive fobs - due to the Passive slide switch at the bottom of the fob. The '00 cars used the same fob without the Passive switch, and they are supposed to work on the '97 - '99 cars too.

The newer style fob which is the least expensive WILL NOT WORK on the older cars.

You might try contacting Fichtner Chevrolet and tell them that you are a Corvette Forum member. I'll bet for the $240 price you'll get two fobs!
