my glass top has faded or has lost whatever it had that allowed me to see clearly thru it. the outside is discolored (looks like its faded) what can be done to restore it or do i have to buy another glass top . the car is a 2000 coupe. thanks
sand? with what and i'm sorry but what do you mean by shoot with clear?
when I purchased my coupe the top had the infamous dull 4" stripe above the passenger window. it was very ugly!
this was my first time working with "plastic" so I treaded lightly. with a DA sander I started with 100 grit, then 180, 220, 320, and then blocked with 600 wet. I grounded the top but I was surprised at how much static was present. that accounted for the abormal amount of trash in the 4 coats of clear. block sanding with 2000 grit wet removed the contamination and Meguiars #85 compound with a wool buffing pad provided a wet look shine. the transparency is great.
I'm very pleased with the outcome.
because of the dull stripe this seemed to be my only option. If your top is just dull you might try a medium cleaner polish with a light buffer.
