I've been in the market for a new set of rims for my 2k C5 for about six months now. I have been doing some hard core searching over the last month due to the impending spring. The toss up will be probably between CCWs and Ruffs. What I cannot figure out is, what makes the difference in finished look between the CCWs 505a and the Ruffs R278? The Ruffs just don't look as nice in the chrome, or is it just the physiological $ factor?
While i dont't have the 278's , I do have the Ruff Racing 280's and have found them to be a great deal for the money, great Quality, and get lots of compliments on them.
$1600 would buy your wife quite a few dinners every time you are trying to butter her up to go along with your upcoming mods..lol
I also considered Ruff Racing wheels, but after more research I've changed my mind. From what I've been told some people have had to use spacers when using the Ruff Racing wheels. Also the CCW's I believe are lighter than the Ruff Racing wheels. If this doesn't matter to you and the big price difference also matters go with the Ruff Racing wheels. I purchased some aftermarket C6 wheels in chrome from a vendor on this forum because they were good looking and cheap. Although they are good quality for the money I'm kinda sorry I bought them. I should have spent the extra money and got the better wheels. I'm am probably going to buy some CCW's. My car is not a DD and I've quit trying to save a few bucks on mods. I'll just look for the best price on the one that is the better quality mod. But it's your car and your money so you have to decide what's best for you.
I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a set of Ruffs and now I think I'm going to do the CCWs. I think i will try and get a set second hand, if anyone has the 505as, 18/20s for a stock 2k coupe, PM me first.
