Like I said....if your debt is like $10k or less...think about transfering it to a 0% interest credit card. Why pay interest if you don't have to?

I also agree about the intrest,,or another alternative would be to contact your current company's manager to reduce the rate you're paying. While you are waiting, study up and you may want to tackle some of the projects yourself. It's very satisfying when you accomplish something yourself. There is a wealth of information here as well as members willing to help. Why pay a shop if you can DIY. Learn about your vette and save money to boot. Congrats on your decision,it takes a MAN to "suck it up"and do the right thing.Sounds like you have a good woman behind you as well,,That is a BIG help.Good luck in the future.Keep us posted on how things turn out!!

3 bits of advice:
pay down the debt
pay down the debt
pay down the debt

and now for the faulty logic above. You didn't pay cash. That cash should've gone to pay down the debt. Those parts were bought at the cc rate if you didn't use the cash to pay down the debt.
The good thing is you see the problem which is the first step to fixing it.
good luck and thanks.

Milan Has the right answer if this is an option.
You could even call your current cc co. and get them to lower the rate for a specific period or you are transfering your balance.

I have never had a fight with the wife over paying off debt.
Buying and installing parts is another story.

Call your cable or sat provider and tell them you are thinking about switching.
I used to work for comcast and this will most of the time get you half price for a year. Apply the extra money to the balance.

There is no shame in keeping parts in the closet until the time and money is right to move forward. Paying off debt and having a good credit rating takes a lot of stress out of your life.

Best advice I can give is get out of debt as soon as possible. The parts will be there when you get back into a debt free status.

I doubt if you could get 90% of your cost so keep the parts. Try to get a % percent credit card and transfer you debt to the new card and pay it off. These cars are not cheap and the maintenance goes up as the car gets older. To really enjoy and do all the mods you want really requires a fat wallet. Just drive it the way it is for now and do the mods later down the road.

I think you have made a wise decision. As others, and you, have said you will enjoy live and your vette much more when the burden of the debt has been lifted. Install the mods when you have cash in hand and not needed to pay bills

My situation is I have some credit debt I really want to get rid of asap and it is hard because at the same time I am trying to save to get my mods installed. Let's just say both are going slowing since I am splitting the money 2 ways. My question is should I put my parts up for sale and try to get back about 90% what I paid for or should I keep the parts for a year store them in my closet and knock out my credit debt. I think being so young I really got caught up in owning the vette. My heart wants to get the parts installed asap but my brain is telling me to get out of debt.

Currently the mods I have sitting in my house are:

ADS4 Cam kit w/ dual springs and titanium retainers and crank bolt and front seal and chromoly push rods all from Advanced Dyno
LS6 Intake Manifold
LS6 Oil Pump
TR55 NGK Spark Plugs

I still want LT headers w/ x-pipe and ls2 heads. Or I could just throw in what I have now along with LS2 heads, or wait a whole year to get all my parts.

My pay check is not huge as I am just a A1C in the military. So my thoughts are torn between the two and just looking on here for some good advice from the older crowd whose been through a lot more than I have and could pass on some wise decision making advice. Anyways thanks for reading.
That vette of yours isnot going anywhere, get your financial
situation straightened out NOW. You have plenty of time to
Mod, You will be surprised how time flys after a while and if
you don't get your money problems straightened out now YOU
will be really deep in the hole. It is not easy because everyone
wants everything NOW and forget about tommorow.

I would keep the intake, plugs, and the oil pump, those are all things you can do yourself in a days time. There are alot of write ups on how to remove and re install intakes, etc.
Pay off your bills and you can sell the rest and buy again later. Then you will probably be able to afford more after the debt is gone.
100 percent the intake and plugs together shouldn't take more than a six pack and a Sunday afternoon.
