HELP with odometer - Gauge Cluster
OK, I have a 99 vert, and I was wondering where the milage information is stored.... is it stored in the gauge cluster or the ECU? Reason I ask Is I want to put the white face gauge cluster in, and I found a guy selling a complete cluster but it has more miles then my car does.........so I dont wanna put that in if thats where the miles are stored...........Any information would be helpful, and fast too if possible, since he said he would hold it for me for a few days while I find out....

I believe the miles are stored in the cluster.

The mileage is stored in the cluster. You can send it out along with a letter to them explaining and showing them your current mileage BEFORE you remove it and have them update the mileage. I can't remember the name of the business at this second. Search the forum and it will appear. I too have an extra cluster for a '99 that I bought just in case the background lighting started to fail, which mine hasn't. I think I paid $100 or $125 for it from someone on ebay. Will sell it too since I really didn't need it but I never installed it so I don't know that it works, but assume that it does.
