Default New plug wires, do I need metal protector ?

I recently purchased a new set of fancy plug wires, they unlike the OEM`s have no metal heat shield, is this ok or am I supposed to,,, what ? Do they actually provide ANY power/performance increase or just the usual aftermarket hype ?

Thanks,

I believe that the metal protectors are a form of heat shield.

I have MSD wires and no metal protectors and I do run headers, no issues, lots that run different wires will use socks

How do I know this is not a trick Mr. Pan, now that I have made it known I have you in my "sites",, you should also be forwarned I am also in the process of installing a billet Alu. GAS pedal

Oh it`s on, ever since your, "that is a good increase FOR YOU" comment regarding my dyno and the ADDITIONAL 29 RWHP,,, just a matter of time.

I run the MSD's with headers and no issues. The metal boot actually won't even fit over them properly. I saved them just in case I wanted to go to another type (like GM red wires) down the line.

No performance increase at all. I bought them because I broke a few taking them off.

Thank you, yeah I split a cover also during header install, those OEM plugs are a bear to pull ! Do you all always use Di-electric grease or am I ok without ?

I would always use the dielectric grease on your plug boots, it will help in the future when you have to change the spark plugs. I also run the MSD wires without the metal heat shields and headers, no issues to date.

sorry if you were offended sir, it`s just in my post I stated "metal heat shield", so I kinda knew that part, and thought my direct question had no direction provided, with all due respect, thanks just the same though.

It`s cool Peter, I have a hoodlum 17 1/2 year old son still with me also, in my day we had a little something called.. respect..,

I`m glad you have a great sense of humor to go with your unusual high style of class and wildness. Suits me just fine and dandy.

Peace brother,

Les
