Default Side window scratches

I am getting some scratches on the side windows from i guess sand getting in the velvet like pieces that squeegee the glass. My question is can i have the glass replaced under warranty? I was told by the guy who did my tints that gm would cover it. He told me he did work fo gm dealers and they would get cars back with this very same problem and just swap out the glass. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks
Dan

My 2000 Camaro had this issue. GM did replace the glass under warranty and determined that it was a defect in the 'velvet' pieces. BUT, it was a headache to get to that point.

Keep in mind, the longer you have the vehicle the harder it is for the dealer to try to claim these items as true factory defects and not user 'neglect.' That word is in ' ' b/c they love to put everything else in that category.

I am for anyone elses thoughts too.

If the dealer doesn't replace the glass, some scratches can be polished out. Just google "glass polishing".

Very common problem with the C4s and C5s. Doubt seriously GM will replace since so many cars have the same issue.

Rule of thumb - if the scratch catches your fingernail it can't be polished out.

Good luck.
