Sorry but like you said you live in Alaska. Don't worry, the snow will end in May or June. I was stationed at Fort Greely, Delta Junction back in the mid 70's. Hang in there, cabin fever is almost over.
Yeah.. the funny thing is, normally I love the snow but this being the first year with a vette... a REAL reason to NOT like snow... I keep fooling myself into thinking just MAYBE this winter will be a shorter one...
Well, heck it'll just give me that much more time to get her all shined up once I get her back to the garage.
Hi There,
Its the location! location!
I was stationed at Galena AFS in 1967 about 750 miles north west of anchorage. It was stupid cold there. -45 to -50 for weeks & weeks at a time.No super men walking around in t-shirts there. When the temp. came up to zero it actually felt warm, off came the gloves & hats and you could see the persons face to whom you were taking to.April 15th the Yukon River would be melting & breaking apart and we would have a big party.I don't recall any more snow after that date.In good weather we kept the Russians aircraft on there own side.I would hope all the snow is gone by the time the barge gets to anchorage with your vette.

Well, another five inches fell after posting this last night... now I'm at work at Anchorage airport, looking out 30 feet of windows at solid snowfall and 1/2 mile visibility. Snow is not forecast to end anytime soon!
I bet this all happened because I took the snowbrush out of my truck last week.
If the ground is still icy when my car gets here, I'll have it flat-bedded to my house. Also, the shipper said I could leave it at the facility until the weather breaks enough to get her home. At least I won't have to feel obligated to drive on icy roads with all these dingdongs here who can't drive worth a damn in the snow. (even up here, they're morons)
And AC54ME, you're right... fence is six feet high but not enough... however, I've not had any other break-ins to my hot tub since that last time!
It would be interesting to know how many C5's are in Alaska.
I'm not sure... I just joined the Anchorage Corvette Assoc. and we have about... 97 members, most of whom are couples. Numerous couples have multiple Vettes; I think our most prolific owner has FIVE Vettes; a couple pairs have four Vettes each.
Just winging it, I'd say about 100 Vettes are under the umbrella of the club; then there's a club in Fairbanks too. Looking at our own website (which doesn't show all the Corvettes), there are 2 C1's; 4 C2's, 6 C3's; 16 C4's; 10 C5's; and 8 C6's. Plus my C5.
If these proportions are at all correct, I'd say 25 to 30 C5's in Anchorage; and maybe 5 to 10 in Fairbanks... best guess I can do! There's probably a couple others elsewhere in the state too. I THINK there's one in Juneau for instance.
I live south of Anchorage on the Kenai Peninsula. I was able to get my 97 C5 out the other day before the snowfall. Now I am just looking out the window waiting for the snow to melt.
