Default Lowered the Z last night.

Man I love free mods! Took my time (had the tv going in the garage and stopped for a few mandated beer breaks) and was doen in a about an hour.

I took the from bolts down the bushings and then turned them back in 1/4 turn and took the reaer down 5 threads so it had approx. 2 threads showing. The car is still up on the lift (doing some exhaust work) but later this week I should have it out so the suspension will settle and I will snap a few pics.

I also shaved the air damn down so it only hang approx. 1" so it wont scrape my driveway anymore. That looks a lot better to IMO!

Yeah free mods are hard to beat! I would be cautious with trimming the air dam down. It does force air up over the radiator for proper cooling so I would think less dam = less airflow to the radiator.

sweet mods man but shaving your dam isnt such a good idea. corvettes need that dam for airflow over the radiator. without it you will eventually have overheating problems. its a small thing that most drivers dont think about. its always a good idea to keep it there and when it does get worn down to replace it.

You can shave off 1-2" and it will have no effects on cooling, there are those of us who have FI and have done it and did not affect the cooling or oil temps.

Yeah I only shaved off the thickness of a ruler, probably an inch or just over 1" but it looks so much better and it shouldn't scrape so bad. With the car lowered it probably would've folded on of the outside portions all the way back when I went in/out of my driveway if I didn't cut some of it down.

i kinda dissagree -

the dam creates a stagnation point where the air builds up to become a high pressure area. the area in front of the radiator and in the engine bay is lower in pressure. to reach an equal pressure, the air moves from the higher to lower pressure. thats why the dam helps air pass over the radiator

if the car is lowered, and he trims some off of the dam, assuming the same amount as its lowered, the dam is the same distance from the ground as it was before. so, theoretically, trimming the dam wouldn't affect the cooling.

since were going on theory here, i submit that if the car is lowered enough, the airflow would stay laminar and pass completely over the top of the car (think smoke over the hood in a wind tunnel) and no air would be stopped by the dam; you would get no cooling from that air. so, in theory, lowering the car would be worse for cooling than trimming the dam?
