Default How To Launch.......drag Strip

Hi, I'll be going to Moroso's drag strip. Racing my brother in his '07 Mustang GT. He has a tune and CAI. I just wanted to know how to launch from the start.....I seem to just peel tire away when I get on it . Any suggestions as I'm not use to racing.

Thanks,
TonyP.

Dont dump the clutch. You will have to slip the clutch gradually so you can get traction.

Check out the forum name "Ranger"! He has great write ups in his public profile and also talk to "robz". If you post in the "Drag Racing" section you will get a lot of info also!

I raced my little brother last Saturday. By the end of the track he was in my rear view mirror. He also has an 07 Mustang GT. Intake and a few other things.

I was running a 13.3 at 109.

Stock 04 Manual 6 speed. His was a 5 speed also.

According to ranger(more or less) stage, bring RPM somewhere between 2 & 3K (You'll have to find your best RPM) third yellow, lift foot quickly(don't side step) and just quickly feed the gas, don't just slam it to the floor. In other words launch as hard as you can without blowing the tires off. Pump the front tires up a few pounds and drop a few out of the rears. You might want to find a deserted place and try a few launches. Third yellow will get you good reaction times. In my old shark I was getting mid .0XX and low .1XX RTs. Rule of thumb, every 1/10 off the line is about a car length...Put traction control in Competitive driving (while you are stopped hold t/c button down for 5,6 seconds) you can spin tires while you still have active handling ,can keep you off the wall. Have fun,,show him your tail lights!!! Let us know how it goes..
