I had the Speed channel on this afternoon and the show "Pass Time" came on. If you haven't seen it, it's actually pretty entertaining if you want to kill some time on a rainy day. The contestants guess "Price is Right" style at what time cars will run in the 1/4 mile. The first car up today was a white 2001 Vette. The show (and owner) said it was a Z, and it had the fender badges yet it was a convertible. It had CCW wheels, and the owner said heads/cam. I don't remember the horsepower that was listed but I think it was high 450+ RWHP. The best part was that it put up a 13.XX time?!?!? How embarrassing. Did anybody else see this or know the story of this thing?
I believe there are actually three factory C5 Z06 convertibles. I cannot remember which year though. It had a power hard top that folded into the trunk. The three were test cars for GM and never made it into full production. I saw one of these for sale a few years back for about six figures Definitely a collectors piece though.
The above Z06 that was chopped and made into a vert looks sweet! Can you tell in the difference i handling or is it mainly a cruiser?

after the many spirited drives with the top down i cant tell any extra "flex" in it prior to doing this, i would imagine if it was on a road course it might be different, but then again i dont know. I do know driving home tonight with the top down is awesome compared to when i had a hardtop.
I also saw that show,it may have been converted into a vert but I didn't see the badges on the seats, I say it was an imposter. I also saw a C6 with a full C6 ZO6 body kit on that show. Run what you bought.
Just to clarify... I wasn't saying that there weren't Z06 "verts" out there... I live in VA Beach, the town where all these guys cut the roof off! I was just curious whether anybody knew anything about the particular one on the show. And yes, I think he spun the tires about to the 1/8th! I wasn't watching close enough to look at the seats, etc. It just caught my ear when they said Z06...
Hey, thanks for the responses guys. Since I had it recorded, I watched it again tonight, and saw that he didn't hook up very well. He did have z06 badges, but not sure about the seats. Still think he was an imposter, but unless he chimes in, we'll never know.
Fall '06 Mike (illmac77) and I went down to Orlando, FL for EG's winter mod party... there was a large vette show we all went to. A guy had a red vert that he was claiming to be a Z06 and he was telling everyone it was and chatting with many people. The car clearly only had Z06 wheels, fender badges, and the stick on brake scoops... no exhaust, no seats, no gauge cluster, and of course the wrong vin. I couldn't beleive that he'd try to pull that **** at a vette show of all places
redls1gto were you going down damneck today around 6:15?
