Default Lowering Question

I have my FRC lowered on stock bolts... thinking about really slamming it...

How much would it cost to lower a bit more myself, and get it done in shop?

How hard is it to do myself considering i can only handle basic bolt ons?

Also considering I have 19/20 inch wheels. How much more is it recommended to lower?

Pics of C5s with same wheel size lowered?

Any answers and advice would help.

I'm no expert here, but if you SLAM it I think you will definitely need some suspension changes. I'd like to go a little lower myself, so I'm looking into Bilstein Sport shocks.....others also do coil overs, sways, etc. Also, if you go much lower, I'd strongly recommend some rocker panel protectors and fat daddys/mommas as well - my 2 cents

In this pic the front bolts were long gone, and pretty low, but being that low resulted in not much travel left in the shocks.

To fix my problem I went with Pfadt c/o's, comp bars, and poly bushings...and a little lower. I run 19/20's.

Mine is lowered all the way on stock bolts-20's in the back 19's in the front. I can't go any lower or I'm rub. In fact had to raise it just a tad to clear the 335/30/20's. Man I got to learn this photo thing but if you do a search on L5 flared quarters my pic you'll see my set up.

Not too car savy. Can you give me a quick explanation why if i lowered it why i would need to get extra suspension?

I love this car, don't get me wrong. it looks amazing, BUT you do not want to drive one around this low on a daily basis. If its a once a week or once a month car, I'm sure its just fine.

Driving a vette slammed that low around can be a really frustrating experience.

To the OP, if you go any lower than stock bolts and bushings allow, YOU MUST change your shocks, the stock shocks will have no travel left in them and it will be like riding on a solid suspension. which btw is no fun and can be dangerous too.

I cut the bushings on mine and had to get 4 new shocks... $300.

Andy, so if I wanna slam my car to look like that sick z then I would have to get new shocks... For about 300? Any recomendations? Also how much does lowering it more cost?

Thanks

O.K. Here's a pic of my 00 vert with 335/30/20 rear 265/35/19 front. Scott Lewis flares-C6 Z06 brakes-Supercharged and lowered on stock bolts. With the ACI front splitter that gives me a little over 3" clearance.

This is my fun car, only caught in rain once. When you lower like this, 'you learn to drive differently'! In nice weather I drive as much as I can.
With the winter we had here, with millions of potholes, I can't wait to bring it out next month!
