Default 2nd gear grinding?

I have recently noticed it sounds like 2nd gear is grinding in my car at the track when going from first to second. I have never grinded a gear in the car, yet at the track it started doing it. Before it was only doing it at the track, but on the way home from the track last night I punched it and it did it on the road. Someone told me it might be because I am slipping the clutch too slow, but now that it did it on the road I think maybe it might be the synchros? I really don't know what to think. The car has 30k on it and it is my DD.

A worn synchro is the most likely suspect since it only happens to 2nd gear.

How much would something like that cost to fix? Im guessing not cheap. Would my best bet be rebuilding the whole thing and doing a clutch swap if I really need it?

I dont know what it is BUT if it is a synchro, your better off rebuilding the whole thing. once one starts to go the rest arent far behind

Sometimes I have trouble getting into reverse... sometimes it will go right in, other times it wont so I put it in third then reverse.

Any other thoughts? Should I just keep riding it out until it starts becoming hard to get into gear? It doesn't make any noise unless I am fully WOT till redline and shift fast.

Dave, if you're going to be a regular at the drag strip a beefed up tranny and clutch package might be a wise investment. RPM transmissions may be able to help you with prices.

I believe ECS (East Coast Supercharging) partners with Rodney on installs.

Yeah I'm going to wait until things get back and then go w/an upgraded trans and clutch. Does anyone know the hp ratings on the RPM trannies?
