Default Tuning question in Ohio

I am coming home to Ohio from Japan and while I am home I am going to be installing Z06 heads and Cam, LT headers and X pipe, GHL exhaust, and vararam intake. My first question is can I drive my car after I install all of this stuff or do I need it to get tuned first? And does anyone know a good place around Akron, Ohio to get a good tune and know roughly what the cost will be? I cant wait to get my baby out of storage and on the road again. Thanks in advance for your help, Rich

Don't forget coming to Akron you have to have your car e-checked.

is e-check still going on there?

we kicked it's azz out of our county (in fact, all of the SW Ohio counties).

Also; you might want to post this in the Great Lakes regional section:

I think summit county is the only one left that e-checks still. I have my car registered in stark county so I bypass all of the e-check b.s. I should still be legal though because I am keeping the cats and my head and cam are Z06 takeoffs so I should be good either way. Anybody know if there are any shows or cruise ins going on in June around Ohio? I heard something about Quaker Steak having a show?

E-check is still in medina county and cuyahoga county. I have heard alot of good things about Backstreet and when I plan on tuning my car thats the place for me. I believe Akron horsepower is geared more towards mustangs. Also up here is Mallett not far from Akron .

Thanks guys....Sounds like backstreet is the place to go. Everybody seems to have good things to say. I also heard about a guy name Flloyd in southern Ohio? Do you guys think it will be alright to drive the car after the Z06 H/C and exhaust without the tune? I can get a trailer but it would be much easier to drive it.

Hutter racing in Chardon. They have been in the high performance business for many years. They build engines for well known racers. Family run company. Trevor Hutter does all the tuning and dyno work. I have been there several times for different tweaks to the existing base line tune. I also researched backstreet. As with most places you pay for the baseline then they save the file and any future tunes are alot less.

Feel free to PM for more questions.

IPS Motorsports, has some of the fastest vettes in the state! They are doing two Twin Turbo C6 Z's right now with twin LSX builds, top notch guys, and service! They have a dynojet in house, and do all the tuning right there, and I must say the pricing is very competive. Although they are in Columbus, a little ways away from you.

American Custom in Toledo has done all of my work (body, paint, and tuning). They specialize in Corvettes, and really do a great job. www.acivette.com
