Those numbers indicate the percentage of visibility (eg:35% = 65% visibility blocked, 20% = 80% blocked and so on). 3M is probably one of the most widly used and well known, but the best film is definitly Lumar. Fade properties, reducing crinkles during install, and has the best adhesives. I personally like one stage darker in the rear...makes the fronts looks lighter in comparison and that keeps the LEOs off you if you are "illegal". I have this combo: 35% front and 20% rear. I can still descent at night.

Just got my 02 Quicksilver tinted on Thursday. I prefer one shade all around so I went 20% too. Mine looks exactly like vettesplus. I think 20 is a good shade. It looks dark from the outside but still allows you to see out pretty easily.

If you are on good terms with your eye doctor,or if you know a crooked one, he can give you a form that says you have light sensitive eyes.(I forget the exact medical terminology) It is good for 20% tint on all windows and valid in all states, kind of like a handicap mirror hangar, only its a piece of paper. 5% is like black paint and you will get hassled for that no matter what you have. Also if you buy a used car from a different state with different tint laws, keep a copy of the bill of sale with your ins and reg, and say you bought it that way. More bargaining power to at least get a warning and not a ticket. Also while we are on the subject of tint, can you successfully tint a c5 hatchback window in one piece, using the exterior heat gun shrink method??

I had limo all around on my mercedes for almost 2 years before I got pulled over and had to remove the front tint. it was a chore to back up at night with the limo on the back, still is, but it looks nice. I am putting 20% all around on the vette soon and 20% back on the front windows of the benz. you will be fine with 35% and should be fine with 20%

Also for you c5 owners that have tint... the 90 degree angle where the top of the window meets the side is a known problem for tint to start to peel due to the flex in the c5 targa body. The 90 degree angle of the tint , although it is not a hard corner it is usually rounded....is subject to abrasion from the rubber weatherstripping and body flexing. A very very very light coat of clear nail polish will prevent this. If you want to be extremists, mix 80/20 ratio of clear nail polish and acetone, that will give you a smoother finish.

5% all the way around on my car. Havn't been bothered by cops about it. Kinda hard at night seing whats behind you but sure does help with those pesky SUV'S with the HID setups that you can feel the heat on the back of your neck. I went 5% due the the stereo system i have going on. Don't want anyone to see what i got and steal it.

Whats stock (% wise) ?

Just asking because they look tinted a little to me, just wondering what number they get at the factory.

Check with your state. Stay legal or you'll be stripping it off at some point.

Cool, thats what I was wondering I would imagine, if the NYS VTL says you must allow 30% light to pass through, and it gets a 10 or 20 at the factory, and you apply 30 aftermarket, you gotta be technicaly over no? I mean its almost nothing as you said, but they are a little tinted.

Ah whatever. I guess I could see what 20 looks like if I decide to tint the back one. Not really dying to do it, but getting glare on the display screen I put in, might help with that.

Thanks.
