Default Royal Purple Sycromax

I posted this in the Tech/Perf and did not get any response. Any one over here feel free to jump in.

OK I have a 00 vert 6 sp with 74,000 miles and just bought 4 qts of the Royal Purple Syncromax. I have read all the post on the forum about the "problems" that people feel are associated with this fluid due to the paper blocker seals. My question - Has anyone with a 00, 99, 98, or 97 6 sp trans who has used the Royal Purple Syncromax in their trans experienced any leaks or trans failure after the change?

In theory I understand what has been said, but I would like to know first hand real world if anyone has had problems.

Thanks is advance for any responses.

Why don't you give the folks at Royal Purple an opportunity to answer your question, that's what I would do?

I have run RP in my transmission and rear gears for the last 4 years (about 10,000 miles) and have had no problems with leaks and failure.

The only trouble we had noticed was the Posi-traction stopped working at the track once. We put the car back on the trailer, pulled the rear end out of the car (4.10's). Couldn't see a problem, but had the clutch plates rebuilt anyway. Filled her back up, with RP again and never had an issue again. That was 2 years ago and several trips to the strip since then.

I like the stuff, seems to shift smoother for the tranny.

***Should edit this to state that we use gear lube (75-140) for the Getrag. Duh!****

I put it in my '99 FRC. I have Royal Purple fluid in my diff as well. I have about 500 miles on these fluids. So far, no issues. I read and read about it before I chose Royal Purple, seems ok so far. I have used their products in my F350 for quite some time(both diff's with gears and lockers, engine, transfer case) ...no failures yet, and it gets BEAT on.

I have a 98 coupe with MN6 tranny and I used it with no problems also have it in the rear end as well. About 6,000 miles on the fluids. Good luck with your choice!

I have been using the purple stuff in my tranny and differential for the last 13k, the same time I put the blower on and seems to be working just fine and so far my 750 rwhp has not toasted the tranny or differential, but that is just another boosted run away as some point in my case, but I did notice that my tranny does shift smoother

I have just had a changeover to RP syncromax in my 2000 along with
Max Gear in the differential about a week ago.The shifting has definitely
improved for the better.

I have used RP, not in my C5 but in my C3 with a TKO 5 speed and have experience no problems with it. I would not hesitate to use it again at this point.

I took your advice and e-mailed the tech line at Royal Purple.

I have a question in reference to the Royal Purple Synchromax for manual

trans. I have a 2000 Chevy Corvette 6 speed. I have had some people tell me that the blocker rings in the 2000 are paper and that GM went to carbon blocker rings in 2001 because the paper blocker rings did not respond well to synthetic fluids. Can you add anything to this? I plan on using the synchromax in the car.
Thanks

They responded:

We actually recommend our RP Synchromax for your 6-speed as it provides superior protection for the bearings and gears yet works great in the synchronizer to gear hubs (blockers) providing superior shifting.

The RP Synchromax has been used for a decade in manual transmissions that spec an ATF fluid with excellent results and is used by rebuilders specializing in both drag and road racing applications. Synchromax is the perfect choice for your manual transmission. Synchromax has been used in Cobras’, Corvettes’, and Vipers’ and we have not had any problems with the paper synchros.

Have a great day.
