Since I'll be putting LG Street headers on Thursday I wanted to get a baseline run to do a before and after. The only performance mods are a Breathless Performance Vortex scoop/intake with BPP goose neck and smooth bellow and a Corsa Pace Car exhaust. The car has 114,179 miles on it and I bought it a year ago with 83,000 miles. My car is a 2002 MN6 Coupe.
I took my car to Curry's Automotive in Dulles VA and using a mustang dyno they did three runs with my best numbers on the last run.
Thats amazing, probably the highest #s of seen with those mods. I thought Any intake and any exhaust would only give you about 10 rwhp over stock...???
Wow those are great numbers from a engine with over 100K on the clock
I know right.
After I bought the car I ran the V.I.N. (its good to be a cop ) and the previous owner was a 40-something year old female. I bought it 03/08/07 and the previous registration expired in early 2006 with insurance lapses in 2005. That tells me she didn't even drive the car much after 2005 and it's a 2002 model. I figured she must have just commuted or traveled in it to have racked up 83,000 miles in around 3 years. Either way, lots of low rpm freeway driving.
Looks like I got one of those "...its only been driven to the store and back..." type used cars. Sweeeeet!!!
And I was considering a bottom end rebuild just to start with a clean slate. But now I'm throwing that out the window! Where's my supercharger?
I think those numbers are way too high for your mods. Mustang dynos usually read on the low side! You sure you don't have a cam in the car from previous owner?

Ha! Wouldn't that be nice? I'm pretty sure it does not have a cam.
As far as the dyno I asked a lot of questions cause I though the numbers were pretty high too. My dyno sheet says the cars weight was 3375 lbs and when asked about atmosphere he said the dyno takes into account the current weather and altitude. I also asked about SAE Corrected numbers vs. raw numbers (to be honest I still don't know what the "corrected" part refers too) and he said those numbers were already corrected. He also said he set the rpms on the dyno by starting with a test run, then running the car in 4th at 3,000 rpms and setting the dyno to that....sounds weird. I also have stock 5 spokes. I asked him about this since there weren't any wires connected to my car, just straps to tie it down to the floor.
SAE corrected numbers are usually 5 smoothing. Your numbers are almost impossible unless the previous owner had a 'blower' cam (very stealthy - you cannot tell the car is cammed) in the car or something is MAJORLY messed up with the dyno or operator.
Check if your car once had a supercharger and was returned back to stock minus the cam

Either that or you have one heck of a strong LS1 right from the factory.

No way to really check. I'll just go with the above guess and say my motor is really strong. And I can't even say it's my hood seal adding the power, cause I don't have one!
Anything else I missed when I was asking the dyno dude questions? I think they're high too, but I'll take 'em any day of the week and twice on Sunday!
