Cd Changer Issues...

Does anyone else have problems with the trunk mounted CD changer skipping VERY badly? The slightest bump causes it to skip and this system overall has been a big disappointment in an otherwise very good car. Any solutions to the problem?

I don't have any problem with mine skipping, but like anything man made, it can wear out or need repair.

Seriously, I have no problem with mine unless I hit a large bump (rare occassion).

there's some truth to this though. The factory CD changer doesn't have a read ahead buffer; so it doesn't take much to get it to skip.

Mine skips occassionally when hitting a bump but not very often.

I had similar problems years ago with an OE Mercedes changer (Alpine made). I found Alpine's U.S. repair center and shipped it off for them to look at. For whatever the "one fee fits all" charge was (can't remember -- $130??), I got back a perfect changer. Just guessing, but I expect you can do the same thing with this changer. Anyone know who the maker is?
