Did it. Very happy with it. Slightly shorter throws, and less "notchy" feel

Huge change from stock. I think it's best described as more precise with a shorter throw. The **** is worlds better than the factory ****. In fact, I haven't found a **** that is ergonomically better for me.

Just be sure to align your new shifter properly (easy to do, takes only a few minutes, makes all the difference!). I can email or pm you those instructions if you can't find them.

Pictures are bright from the sun:

I just completed the conversion on my 00 Coupe... It is a drastic improvement over the original stock shifter...Shorter throws and a more positive shift...Not as tight or notchy as the aftermarket shifters(which I don't like) but well worth the effort.... Very important to adjust/align the shifter porperly before you button everything up.... I took the car for several test runs to make sure...

So many people have asked me for C6Z shifter installation and alignment information, I thought it would be best to post the links right here. I'm no expert, but I have experienced the difference between improperly and properly aligned C6Z shifters in a C5. It's a world of difference. I didn't write any of this stuff; just passing along the info I used.

Cut and paste on alignment (credit to "weisser", who wrote it back in August of '07):
"Remove the console, ****, boot, etc. to expose the shifter. Put car in neutral and push down on the neutral adjusting pin to lock the shifter. Loosen the two torx bolts that mount the shifter box to the torque tube and remove the torx bolt the tightens the clamp on the shift shaft. You'll notice that the two holes where the shift box mounts to the torque tube are elongated allowing for adjustment fore and aft. The shift shaft is also notched where the clamp bolt goes through but if you look (shine flashlight through clamp holes to see the notch) you'll notice the notch doesn't have to be perfectly centered for the bolt to go through. This small amount of play, I found, greatly affects how it shifts. To adjust, I shined a light down through the clamp hole and moved the shifter so that the notch on the shift shaft was perfectly centered in the clamp hole. Then I tightened the 2 torx bolts on the shift box and installed the clamp bolt, pulled up neutral adj. pin and tried it. Found first and second hard to grab everything else good. So I removed the clamp bolt, loosen the shift box bolts and repositioned the notch in the clamp hole. Then I retightened everything and tried it. You'll find that moving the shifter fore and aft affects how far you can move the shifter from side to side. I repeated this process several times, using the notch in the clamp hole as a guide to track how the movement affected the shifting, until it shifted perfectly. All it takes is the slightest of movement to change the way it shifts. For example, the first time I had it perfect, I then torqued everything to spec (22ft lbs.) and when I tried shifting I noticed that it wasn't perfect like it was before I torqued it down. The shifter has worked perfectly since I did this. I would give this a try first, should take less than an hour, and if no results then consider the possibility of worn synchros. Hope this helps. Mike".

The main post I used to install mine:

Patches installed Hurst, but it's not really different (except you wont have the boot issues he encountered)

Here’s a link with some pictures, but it doesn’t discuss the key element in alignment (pictures are still helpful): http://rpmtransmissions.com/files/c5...adjustment.pdf

Here is a nice DIY to re-use the C5 shift boot with the C6 shifter. I modified mine until my new boot arrived:

Removing the "demon key" (holds the old C5 shifter **** on the shaft...then you unscrew the shifter from the shaft): http://www.vetteessentials.com/instr...t_install.html
