2007 supercharged M5 or 2002 z06 with Lt's,no cats, x-pipe, pTB, tuning by breathless performance. the guy wants to race a 1/4 mile and he wants to run for $1000, would i be a fool to do it?

Yea if hes willing to bet that much for a 1/4 race then Im sure hes beat Z's close to your setup. So he knows he will win unless he loses traction or misses a gear you never know !. Race him for fun and see where you stand

ok so lets say your car is making 435hp at the flywheel i would guess i could be off
the m5 is at 500+100= 600 for the supercharger but thats a big guess

so that would be about

z06 290HPish per ton

m5 300HPish per ton

if it was my money i would take 600ish $ and get some juice and toast his a$$

If I'm not mistaken, the 07 M5 is the 500hp V10 version, right? If he's added a supercharger to that, he's going to walk you badly.

Coming from a turbocharged BMW M3, I can tell you a couple of things!
To begin with, both vehicles in stock trim are not too far from one another! Advantage going to the ZO6 for weight, advantage for the
M5 on power. Second, I am not aware of one single company that even offers a supercharger kit for the E60 M5. I am a very active member on Www.Bimmerforums.Com and have yet to hear of this company! Unless Active Autowerks, Alpina, Dinan, VF etc., have come out with one that I am not aware of, I would demand to see this alleged S/C kit on that V10! Even if, this kit exists, it's going to be a low PSI setting, depending on the pully size, an additional 50-85 RWHP can be seen. I would suspect, an E60 M5 dynoing around 445-455 RWP stock, with the addition of the supercharger, taking the highest figure of 85 RWHP, your looking at a vehicle with roughly 535-540 RWHP. Don't forget M5's are very heavy and are currently offered in SMG only, I wouldn't count the ZO6 out just yet!

Stealth a 100 shot on the car or you'll probably lose.

Throw a quick ZEX kit on there and still make $500.

Driver's race. Out of the box the M5 has 500hp/383tq + coldside at (?) boost weighing in at over 3800 lbs.

I'd say depending on driver skill and boost the M5 can be a 10 sec. car.

I'd say unless you run low 11s you would probably be throwing away your 1000 dollars. Those M5s are fast even stock. Guys run low 12s. So if he really is boosted, who knows. He also probably has the smg so he won't likely miss a shift.

Bad as I hate to say it, I'd put my money on the M5 even though I am in your corner...

Without any juice and slicks, you have a chance if you're an excellent driver. With the mods you listed, slicks, and a good driver, 11.7 in the 1/4 has been done before, which is about what a 600hp M5 would run it in. But if you're not an experienced drag racer, don't do it without a 100 shot.

Your car with slicks and 100 shot will definitely win.

The key is the tires and hard launch. The stock tires won't hook up enough, and the M5 has a traction advantage. You'll get killed with the stock tires with or without a 100 shot. Put slicks on though, and the M5 no longer has a traction advantage.
