I'm looking to add another Vette and have been jumping through the years. I currently own a 2001 MY Coupe and have special reasons on never selling it. But now I want to create new reasons for my 2nd Vette. I spent alot of time looking at '68 and '69's and these are still an option but now finding myself drifting towards another C5. The C6 is not an option for me. I'm sure this problem has happened to others an thought it would it would generate some good discussions.
I came back to the C5 after seeing the post on Flat Black Paint. I really like this look and the idea of heavily modding (interior, exterior and engine) the vehicle to my preferences. I think I would want a FRC for this project.
I've also considered buying all 3 models in 2001 in MY: Coupe, Vert, Z06.
no brainer your cash get what YOU want not what we think you should have
Get what makes you happy. I have a "mut" mix and match 69,,,but that was my first one,,,,bought a 2000 FRC to have something more suited for the open road. Love them both for their own special traits.

I too have 2 generations of vettes- each for their own purpose.
I've had my C3 Vert for many years now and loved the look and crusing with the top down. But when it came to long distance drives at highway speed, I look to the C5. Bought my '99 in 2003, and never looked back.
Still get the '75 out on nice summer days and for car shows, but mainly drive the '99 for competition and road trips.
So, I say get a C3 for the vintage, crusing and fond memories of what the Corvette stands for, but keep the C5 for the power and modern ammenities that make the Corvette a real driving expeirence.
It depends on how you want to use the shark. For shows or short hops it's a nice car. For extended travel-forget it. When I go from my C5 to my 74 L82 it's like going from a comfortable easy chair to a milk crate and oversized steering wheel. I love the C3-had a number of them but except for a trip down memory lane the C5 is so much more of a car.
