Default How do I get into LEARN mode for TPS?

Hey guys so I bought the wheels...the 18"s all the way around. Thanks to everyone for their input. You all helped a lot. Now I have to get my TPS's out of my stock wheels and put em in the new ones. How do I get the car to learn them? Details please, THANKS!!

Good thread for reference. Follow the directions with a decent magnet and you should be able to relearn the sensors.

also, be patient, sometimes it takes a few seconds even with a strong magnet..

If you put the tps in the same location on the car as they came from you shouldn't have to relearn them, i.e. RF to RF, etc.

Just be patient with the magnet. I usually hold it to the stem and pull it away slightly a couple of times and then the horn blows indicating that the tps has learned. You'll do fine.

Follow the manual procedure to get to the key FOB training message and then just use option to chose between FOB and tire sensor.

I used a big 1" x 2" x 3" ceramic brick magnet. I can hold that sucker 2" away from the rim and still program the sensor. Good thing because with the CCW wheels they are strapped inside the rim and I have no idea where exactly besides being near the valve stem.

The pole of the magnet matters. Try the north then the south pole. I don't know which one it needs but it needs one. The side of the magnet without the N or S directly facing the sensor won't work.

You need to give it a little time. Mine take 2 or 3 seconds of holding the magnet.

I use my magnetic parts holder, looks like a 5" diameter ashtray with a magnet on the bottom to hole screws and the like. Works great. I bought it about 20 years ago in the Sears tool section.
