I wish the corvette forum would start a new category called "gripes" and let all the gripers post their unwanted views there. When I see a thread titled "Hurst shifter update" thats all I want to read there...an update; not all these postings about why you're suffering a coronary because you haven't got one yet. If you want one you will wait, if you don't want one bad enough to wait go buy the Kirban or Ripper and post your gripe in the griper category. That said I will be putting my flamesuite on and patiently waiting for the word to order my Hurst shifter. :nopity

You have to understand.. If you search the archives you will see where folks were told "They're going out next week!!!" way back in April and earlier. This happened again and again. So many times.. it became silly.
Those were lies. I don't blame Chris, I blame Mr. Gasket. How could they have been anything else when there are so many significant and time-consuming steps to doing a run of even 100 shifters (though we're talking thousands)? Sure, it is just a shifter. But when people want to buy your product and you outright lie to them, you lose some fans.
It was a bad business move intended to try and protect the market segment and keep folks from buying competing shifters. That isn't a business strategy I agree with, but unfortunately it isn't uncommon.
I mean.. At some point after you've blown the date 5 or 6 times, you should stop giving dates. You just say "we're working on it".
So if this thread wasn't the "rah rah" about the Hurst you were hoping for, sorry about that! ;)
You're right it was silly. We all see how far off those deadlines were, but often you think "well, 2 months from now this and that will surely be done..." But in the end it didn't go at all like you thought it would.
It was unprofessional and the estimates should have been somehow given more carefully, but quite simply they know people are waiting, and have been trying to hurry and give optimistic deadlines. I assure you none were ever lies, but rather reasonable estimates that proved way off later on. They didn't plan it, and didn't purposely try to (and I don't think effectively) block alternative sales to the competition. I see how people can easily take it that way, but much like other business & government topics the "conspiracy view" is fabricated by onlookers who think those running the show have much more control than they really do.
The development and production of any new product always seems to have unexpected delays. All you Zaino junkies out there have been told for many many months that ZFX will be out real soon. It finally is out now,not last spring or summer as expected. If you don't want to wait for a product FINE, buy something else. I don't think anyone wants to hear you whine and cry like a baby because of delays. :nopity
