almost ready to buy my first C5 actually my first vette. I found a 99 NB FRC with 49k miles all stock for 21k. any input on pricing? I've searched around and found a few to compare but they go from 16k to 25k with similar miles. hopefully ill be bringing it home monday
I used to own a 99 FRC great car. As far as pricing yeah they are all over the place. There is one for sale right now probably THE cleanest FRC around today with 13K original miles selling for $22,000. I can pretty much guarantee its not in the condition the one on this forum is for sale. As much as I would hate to bring down the sale of our own vettes I would say the one you are looking at is priced pretty steep. I sold my mint condition pewter 99 with 36K miles a year and half ago for $22.5
I got my '99 FRC Torch Red w/46K miles and pretty darned clean in January '08 for a cool $16K (and a "OH F**K from the owner when I actually showed up with the check. "If you show up tomorrow with a check for $16K, you can have it, after that it goes back up to $18K.") Heeheehee
well my search continues. went to the dealer last night. drove an hour when i got there it was being loaded onto a trailer to be taken to the auction. i told them 19.5 and i'll buy right now and they said they were firm on 21k. so i left without a vette

Check and see if it sold at the auction. If not, they will be more flexible with their price.
Last fall I bought my 99 coupe with 48k miles for 18.5, knowing it had $500 in work needed. So I'd say see if you can get it down to about 19 or so. It's a desirable car though so if you get a good deal and you like the car then go for it. A lot of people seem to be looking for FRC's lately.
NB FRC's in general have less room for negotiation due to their low production #'s. (There's always someone who's willing to pay a premium for that exclusiveness... even with those miles.)
Unless you're dying to get that color, I'd look elsewhere. IMHO, a 99 FRC with 50k is probably worth closer to $19k.
One other thing to consider are the wheels. If you're like 90% of the FRC owners out there, you'll probably be swapping out the original wagon wheels in no time - unless the previous owner has upgraded them already. Keep that in the back of your mind when you calcuate your budget.
