I am getting ready this week to swap out my tranny fluid in my 00 vert 6 sp. Picked up 4 qts of Royal Purple Syncromax. Will let you know the difference once I change it and I know I will notice a difference.
Tranny (Dexron III fluids): AMSOIL ATF (stock code ATFQT) AMSOIL Torque-Drive Synthetic Transmission Fluid (stock code ATD)
(Oldvetter uses the ATD in his car with good results, I have the ATF in my 02 Z06 and 06 CTS-V but think I'll try the ATD next time around as it has a slightly higher viscosity than the fairly recently reformulated ATF).
Diff: AMSOIL Severe Gear Extreme Pressure Synthetic 75w90 (stock code SVGQT)
(Note that this fluid has friction modifier already in it and extra is not normally needed)
(I use this in both my 02 Z06 track car and 06 CTS-V daily driver)
I am about to change my A4 tranny fluid and filter. I am not getting it flushed, just dropping the pan, will it be bad to mix old GM fluids with new Mobil 1 dexron III fluids?
When I was at the dealership buying the tranny filter kit, the guy there told me I should use Dexron VI fluids .. that true?

My understanding is that GM doesn't recommend their Dexron VI for manuals, but does for automatics. Given you have the A4, I think the Dexron VI would be right for you.
