I have a 03 z06 and am very interested in getting a performance x pipe...
I am a fan of Borlas prouducts and have been looking at there x pipe..
What kind of problems will I have removing the cats??? Will I need 02 simulators? Do they work for these cars? Are the stock Z06 x pipes lighter?? Should I avoid The new x pipe all togeather??
My ultimate goal is to make the car a little louder and throaty...Maybe a few ponies too but, I would like it to be a little louder than stock..
Thanks
Zach
Installing an x pipe won't do much,it will smooth out your exhaust,I don't think you will feel any gains in hp,get a good set of quality LT headers. Most headers will come with hi-flow cats and an x pipe anyway. The headers will give you the sound and the hp gains,so I would'nt waste money on just an after market x pipe by it's self. Been there, done that.
So what kind of x pipe should i get when i do get headers and such????Does it make a difference??? Would just replacing the z06 x pipe with borlas give any naughty sound effects???
And is the borla x pipe gonna weigh more than the stock z06 one???
It depends on your application. Most guys go with the 3" x 3" X-Pipe. The X-Pipe normally comes with LTH.
No replacing the current pipe with the Borla won't do much of anything. The weight of the X-Pipe is not something to be concerned with.
If you decide to replace your mufflers with a louder aftermarket system, then I would also replace the the stock h-pipe with an x-pipe to reduce the drone. A "true x-pipe" like Bassani or MagnaFlow works the best. I have been there myself. The factory system is way too quiet. Good luck.
I have a used random technology x-pipe and high flow cat setup that will bolt up to your factory manifolds.
PM me if you'd like.
Oops sorry, I notice you have an 03. The x-pipe will work as a slip on, but the cats would have to be modified. The setup is for a 97 - 00.

You can install the x-pipe without removing the cats. I did on mine. I installed a Bassani pipe. Just cut the stock exhaust behind the cats and then install the x-pipe.
For your goals, an X pipe will actually make the car quieter/smoother losing the "burble" and popping under deceleration.
Some models have been reported to pick up between 2-4 rwhp. If you want more power, you need to look at the merge style models like Bassini and WCC. Borla and other companies that look like 2 pipes bent and welded together where they touch don't provide enough cross flow balancing to justify their expose and installation.

I dont really want to change the muffler setup...I like the look and want to keep it sumwhat stock looking on the exaust side...
Im looking into the lG pro setup...would that setup be beneficial if i kept the stock Z06 muffler setup with just the lg pro headers and x pipe...It seems like a more subtle setup then if i had aftermarked mufflers too. Having the stock muffler and far back piping paired with the lg pro setup....
I do like the sound of drone for some reason it just tickles me...Is drone a bad thing??? Would the setup I want to go with have Drone???
Would having the lg pro setup be a waste paired with oem z06 mufflers

Yes it would be benificial, the stock Ti's actually flow pretty well. (which is why the coupe guys like to buy them off of us)
What is the reason for your choosing the LG's instead of the Dynatechs or Kooks?
Advanced Dyno (a suporting vendor on here) quoted me under $1200 shiped for the 1-3/4 Kooks set up without cats (headers, uncated X-pipe, and mid pipe)

Looks arent everything..But the LG pro setup looks like quality stuff...I intend to cut no corners with this car. Being that it is my dream car and I now have it...Im keeping it forever..Its getting buried with me ..
Anyway if kooks and dynatech are just as good.(quality, fitment, and longevity.. Not overheating any critical parts...and i could save some cash..I would go that route...
Lg just seems to have a quality piece there
