Default Ranger method clutch fluid flush / Remote bleeder mod

Has anyone got a link to an FAQ or something on the Ranger method to do a clutch fluid flush? Would also like to know how hard the remote bleeder mod would be to do.

Thanks guys,
D

Remote bleeder mod would be next to impossible to do with out tearing down. Best bet is when you do a clutch job to install it at that time. The Ranger method of flushing the clutch fluid is simple enough. What he reccomends is pump the clutch , I think arround 50 times and then by using a turkey baster or some similar device and suck the fluid empty out of the clutch resivor . Then with a clean dry rar clean the bottom same. Sometimes you will see little black speks, you want to make sure and remove these. I found a q tip works pretty well on the specks. He also recommends using Prestone Dot 4 Synthetic. The reason being is that the Dot 4 has a wet boiling point of 311 degrees . Dry boiling point 500 degrees. The reason he reccomends the Prestone is because it's clear and eazy to see when your fuid is getting dirty, cloudy, black and to be able to see the floating specks. He reccomends doing this procedure as many times neccessary to get the fluid clean again. Every time you finish driving, you might want to check the fluid and keep on it untill finally the fluid stays clean. Oh and he states that it's ok to use the syn. Dot4., but doesn't recommend mixing in the Dot 5. Hope this helps, Good luck.

Once open, use up the container (s) of clutch fluid. Has limited shelf life and it's cheap to buy.

Found this in my notes: Open containers of DOT4 clutch fluid have a 2-week shelf life per GM bulletin.

I do this about every 60 days.

Except I lay out cloths and use a MityVac to remove the fluid and a small funnel when adding the fresh fluid.

One point to Ranger's demo is that it can be done at the track. Improve the performance of your clutch action.

Have a six speed in a 04 I bought used, the fluid was disgusting.Flowed the Ranger procedure to a tee, cleaned out the fluid a few times at first to get it to stay clean. Now I do the procedure at least once a month, and have no clutch problems.I do drive the car HARD.

The first time I did it, it took me between 10-15 flushes to get the fluid decently clear....when I drove it home from my friends house where I did it, the fluid was dirty again....it just takes time to get it nice and clean the first time, just keep on it!

I used the Ranger idea of putting it inside two freezer bags to keep the moisture out.

only thing was, I couldnt seem to find a syringe that worked as excellently as the one in the video...i bought a larger syringe from petsmart, like 30 or 50cc i dont remember....and it could barely hold the pressure and would instantly start leaking lol....

its gonna be one of those hunts for the perfect tool...but the method is .....amazing!!!!

I found the syringe that Ranger uses at Walmart over by the gas cans. It is made for mixing two cycle gas/oil in very small amounts. Less than $4.00.Not so much as a drop fell out of mine.

I use a MityVac:

Works great for any fluid removal procedures.

MityVac $49. at Eckler's. Had my current one for over ten years now, very sturdy product (Of course being local I just drive to Eckler's LOL).
