Fairly common problem. Try running a bottle of Techron with each of your next few fill-ups. Also only use premium, name brand fuel, most of which have additives in them to help this problem. I've run nothing but Shell premium in my two C5's for over 50k miles combined, with ZERO problems.

I use Chevron since it already has Techron in it. Exxon and Shell may also have it or a comparable additive. I've not had a problem using these fuels.

I filled up at a discount retailer one time and had the same problem you experienced. Never again.

Mine has been goofy ever since filling with Amoco (Sept 07). Chevron Plus, Seafoam hasn't worked. Finally found BG44K. I am hoping this works. Extremely annoying to me.

Hopefully it is only some sulfur deposits messing with your sending units. Try the Techron in the gas and see if that clears it up.

Default Gas cap

My 2K does the same thing and I have tried all the cleaners and Shell only. My friend's new C6 started doing the same thing. He replaced the gas cap and that solved the problem. He said that if you over tighten the cap (more than one click) it will damage the seal and cause the pressure leak. If it works it is a cheap fix. Good luck.

My sister-in-laws vette is doing the same thing. Have you checked to make sure your grounds are ok? We think this might be her problem. Also, check to make sure you aren't throwing any codes. Good luck!

My 03 had same problem, always bought cheap gas. Ran Tectron thru one tank and Seafoam the next. Guage started working. Month later happened again and again put Seafoam in. That was last summer, since then always use Sheel V power and have not had any problems. Just keep using the additive till it clears up.

Shell was considered problematic probably a few years ago because of high sulphur content. Sulphur is like grit at a microscopic level. I formerly used it in my C4 before moving to a C5, but I went to Conoco in my part of the world (Colorado) where there are no Chevron or Texaco stations. Either of those brands have Techron.

Try a couple of bottles of Techron, but you may want to avoid Shell.

My gas gauge has been dead for a week now. I'm running Techron Plus thru it right now. I didn't have any issues at all until this past Thrursday when I filled up a Shell station. 30 mins later gauge was dead. Gonna try Chevron for a while.

Sorry to see that. Hope things straighten out, man. No Shell for this guy. It's a shame because decades ago when I was autocrossing the tweaked British sports cars I owned, Shell was THE performance gas to use, highest availble Octane in pump gas, etc. But that was before close tolerance, electronically fuel injected engines.

Mine did that until my first road trip to Ohio in June '04. No problems since... other than rising gas prices...

That's interesting because I always had the best results with Shell/Chevron and the worst with Mobil 1. It was especially noticable in my truck w/ maggie supercharger. Shell and Chevron worked great in boost, but Mobil 1 would always ping/predetonate at WOT in boost.

Even the cheap stuff they sell on base (what I use now) was better than Mobil 1.
