New to the forum but hope someone can help me with this problem. Bought a 2001 vert last september from local chevy dealer. Soon discovered that the turn signals worked intermittently (approx. 80% of time). Took it back to the dealer, but of course the signals worked fine at the time. Can't fix what ain't broke. But the dealer agreed to replace the mult-function turn signal lever hopeing that would fix the problem. It didn't. He replaced the lever a second time, but still did not correct the problem. Sometimes when it quits I just leave the signal in the on position (left or right) for a couple of minutes and it starts to work???
Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, what did you do to correct? This sure is a nuisance. Appreciate any advice I can get..
You have a bad hazard light switch. Common problem. Next time they don’t work try hitting the hazard button a few times, if they start working, bingo that’s your problem. Mine failed right after I bought the car. Button is about $40 and can be replace by removing the radio. Do a search here for a how to. I replace mine when I added the HUD. It's real easy when you have the dash out.
You might consider what I did when I replaced my flasher unit. I left the old one in place and moved the wiring harness down to the left footwell, tucked in under the console plastic. That way, if it goes out again, I won't be removing the console and dash.

My Cousin's 99 had an intermittent signal problem. Figuring the switch might be dirty (dusty) he hit the stalk's base with compressed air and it has been working fine since. A cheap first option?
Mine does it all the time, except mine is more like 50% of the time...
Haven't gotten around to fixing it yet though. I will look in the direction where others have pointed - at the HAZARD light switch. Which by the way doesn't work. It works when you push it in and hold it in, but you can't just push it and release it.
Mine only seems to work when it is not needed - like during the day in the middle of the country. Let it be a sudden decision to turn at night on a busy city street though. It aint happening.... It's frustrating too!
For about 50 bucks you can buy a replacement cable assembly that eccentually bi-passes the OEM hazzard switch that is **** to fail again in the future. They are sold by a supporting forum member and take about 15 minutes to install.
