US S.E.A.L. Team 3 painted the Jake Skull on their vehicles and most of their equipment used in the Gulf War. The US Army's 24th Infantry Regiment also started painting the Jake Skull on some of their military equipment. The skull went through a metamorphosis and the C6 crossed flags emblem was substituted for the eye sockets on the "Punisher" Jake Skull. Hence the current Corvette Racing symbol was born.

Left out is where I place all my skull stickers.
I did gain a depth of understanding here, I never associated this symbol with corvette racing support, although I know the story
I grew up in a world where skulls emblems were linked to pirates or hells angel bikers , take your pick. So always thought this a pretend affectation, people who are pirates or outlaws seldom feel the need to celebrate the situation.
As sailor jack used to say to me after a few pops and wanted to start a fight, you can tell that guy has never really been hurt.
Poser are a conceptual problem with me,, don't like 'em. Same deal with men and hair dye.
I don't seek to be a bad *** , so no jakes for me. Old guys like me see a skull first, and a childish," wanna be impressing you with tuff guy action I don't live" , long before I think of corvette racing supporter.
Now I see it with more insight, but not enough has changed to make me slap a skull on my car. Well, maybe the battery..........
I just remembered I have a long sleeved T shirt with skulls up and down both arms and a single large one front and back. I bought it to go sailing with the at risk youths, to stoke the fun with a pirate association. I wore it to a pirate themed party and some tried to slam the fact that I owned a shirt suitable for a pirate themed party. No need for me to explain, I also have a cowboy shirt and no horse.
