Hello everyone, just a quick question I will be ordering my headers next week do you need a x pipe with that or can you stay with the stock H pipe. I was told the X pipe will just make it a lot louder and I don't want it toooo loud (have BB Bullet exhaust on there) I will be adding the K@N air intake with that too thanks ahead for everyones reply.
You don't "need" the X-pipe but it's a good idea. The stock H-pipe is very restrictive. To get the most out of your headers, do an aftermarket X or H pipe and a TUNE.
The X-pipe will smooth out some of the sound and take away some of the popping on decel.

the xpipe will not make it louder but with the headers it is going to be loud with those B&B's-that's what I'm running along with the free flow cats.
With the BB Bullets how loud is loud (my wife says ) I can handle a little louder but I have heard different things. My father inlaw is looking into the headers for me. Did you notice the power difference with the headers and BB Bullet exhaust.

From just adding an X-pipe? It should be plenty loud, I agree, but I understood the X-pipe to allow for less restricted airflow and to also help with popping. I did mine at the same time so I cannot speak from experience, but I don't get how it would be louder

I've got a Bassani x-pipe on mine - nice quality for sure.

I agree....I first installed Corsas on my 99 Coupe without the X-pipe....While I liked the new sound I still didnt like the caw-caw-caw sound of th exhaust....It was there with the factory exhaust..and it was still there with the Corsas....I ordered up a Corsa X-pipe and installed it a week later....It COMPLETELY eliminated the caw-caw-caw (motorboat) sound...smoothed out the exhaust tone and eliminated the popping on decelleration.....In my opinion, EVERY C5 needs an X-pipe...whether it be a Corsa, Bassani, Magnaflow, etc....Ive installed a few WestCoastCorvette X-pipe for club members recently...They seem to be a quality unit for less money..and sound just as good as the Corsa.....
Ive installed about 20 X-pipes and I always cut the old "H" pipe open to see if GM ever changed the design...It cracks me up..the "H" pipe is 2 1/2 inches in diameter, but when it's cut open theres only a 5/8 inch hole drilled in each thru piece, bridged by the 2 1/2 pipe...Why did GM even bother????
