Hello to all. This is my first post here. No, I don't own a Corvette. I have been lurking for a while, and decided to register, and participate in some of the interesting discussions here.
I hope one day, I'll be able to own a Z06. I've been reading everything I can about them. I just got the feeling I will own one, someday. :cry
It's real. Been posted here before.
Bloomfield Hills is in Michigan I believe.

Sweet! It's got the red mod interior nonetheless
Who's that lucky SOB Cop?! :D
Now, knowing that the car is real, is there any performance parts added to it, that a regular Z06 may not have come equipped with??
I will assume at least a stronger alternator, perhaps?
I figured that would just be used as a DARE car to go to schools and stuff, but if you look in the front window, there is a radar unit sitting on the dash. How the hell do they justify a Corvette police car?! Could have gotten two Impalas or Vics for that kind of money.
That is just so damned funny! Bloomfield Hills is the city I grew up in! Spent the first 24 years of my life there. Got my first 5 speeding tickets there too! At least the cops there can have some fun.
Yes it is in Michigan. About 20 miles north of Detroit, right next to Pontiac. Is this the township police or the village police?
Also BL Hills is home to most of the big 3's executive/CEO types and a few other famous folks (Bob Seger, Aretha Franklin)... I think its the wealthiest town in MI... This car was most likely donated by a Chevrolet or GM executive. Roger Smith lives in BL Hills. One of his sons went to the same high school as me...
Glad I'm driving to Chicago this Christmas! I'd hate to be pulled over by one of my own...

It's unlikely they bought the car for the reasons you mention. The car could have been confiscated in a drug or other deal. Even a DARE car could sport a radar unit to teach respect for the speeding as well as the drug laws. jerboa :)
One thing I've just noticed. This Z06 cop car has side moldings.
That's not a standard option, is it? If not, why did they order it with it? Don't get me wrong, it looks awesome, but for a cop car, they don't need it. :flag
