Default Seat tilt

I would like to get more backward tilt on the drivers seat back (power sport seats 99 coupe)
I am not a very tall guy, 5'9" so I have the room for more backward tilt, but the seat doesn't seem to have the range.
I know I can use the motor to tilt the entire seat base, but this raises the front bolster at the same time and this aggravates my lousy low back pain. So I would like to just increase the rearward pitch at the pivot point.

Any ideas ?

What about the little handle on the side of the seat that lets the back go back! Doesn't it let the seat go all the way back till it hits the carpeting coming up behind the seat? I'll have to check this next time. I know it goes back farther than I require and I am 5'10" so it should work for you.

The handle allows the seat to recline just a bit, but not back to the carpet unless the seat position is way back.........farther back than I sit to drive

I must be laying down because the back of my seat is against the back carpet when I'm driving and I'm only 5'8".

I don't think I have made it clear.......

Run your seat forward a bit toward the steering wheel, so that there is 4+ inches behind the seat.
Pull up on the tilt lever at the seat's pivot point.

Will your seat continue to recline back until it hits the carpet ?

I think the C5 seats are set to only recline just a bit and they assume you will use the power seat to recline any further by actually moving the front edge of the seat up and lowering the back of the entire seat.

While this does work, the raising of the front edge of the seat puts too much pressure on my thighs which triggers my back pain

Yeah!! I just went out and checked it out. If the seat is forward the lever only lets the seat go back a bit. But that bit is way to far back for me I feel like I am lying down. I used to drive with the seat adjusted so that when my arms were straight my hands lay on top of the wheel. Well that changed the first time I hit the gas when rpm's were at 3500 to 4000 and the car took off and ripped the steering wheel from my hands. Now I adjust the seat so that I could push a little farther on the clutch if it went through the floor. And my wrists are on the top of the steering wheel when I push my self backward into the seat a bit. It took a little getting used to from the laid back position I've been used to for years. But I have noticed a huge difference in control of the vehicle in autocrosses. Also have you ever checked out how racing drivers sit their elbows touch the wheel. That to me is way to close but check it out next time you watch a race.

I was also wondering if there is some kind of a stop at the bottom of the seat back that you could adjust. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

I use a similar method in my positioning. But on long drives I have to vary my positions due to my back issues........sometimes I need to get the front edge of the seat low so it doesn't press on my thighs. But when I do so using the power tilt button it makes the seat back almost 90 degrees

Do you need a parts blow-up of the seat? I created a zipped, 2 PDF's file if you need it.

Thanks,

That is cool.... ......but I don't see anything on those pages to adjust the stop point for the recline of the seat

Yea, it looks like there is no adjustment possible. The stop point is fixed.
