Default TPS ...What happens if I run without them?

I just bought a 97 and I have a set of C6/Zo6 replicas from my C4 that I wanted to put on. I really would like to avoid having to break down and rebalance my new wheels. If I have to have TPS what has to be done as my sensors are for 17/18in wheels and my new combo is 18in all the way around. Thanks!

You don't have to have tps but you will get the mesg on the dic every time you start the car. All you have to do is reset it and it will go away. As far as wheel size it does not matter the sensors are the same for all wheel sizes.

But the message will keep coming back over and over, and over, and over. and over, and over, and over, and over, and over. and over, and over, and over, and over, and over. and over, and over, and over, and over, and over. and over, and over...

Unless you're ready to deal with that annoying problem, get TPS's.

Last I heard if you leave them out the lug nuts have to be threaded on backwards.
If you are anything like the rest of us the reset button becomes a pia after the 3rd or 4th or 5th time.
IMO put them in.

Plus, running the TPS is a nice safety feature.

I thought I read that later models (01 up) the TPS's can be tuned out.

Just wondering.

On the later models it can be turned off through the computer. 2000 and older cannot.

You mean with a programmer. Not through the DIC, correct?

2001 and newer - the system can be turned off using a Tech II tool.

To the OP - all you have to do is break the front bead of the tires, slip the TPS in and reset the bead...then you're good to go.

I don't have TPS sensors and for a while the message was cleared. Had the car dyno tuned and its back and I can't get rid of it. (2000 FRC)

You will see a service tire monitor system everytime upon start-up .
Hit the reset button.... to get rid of it until the next start-up

I don't think mine works that way. After you hit reset and clear everything, a couple of minutes will pass and the stupid message starts showing again. I keep forgetting to train the sensor...
