Default Green valve stem covers

Can anyone tell me if green valve stem covers mean that the tires have been filled with Nitrogen? Or are the green valve stems on my Z06 just standard issue?

Thats what I always thought. They didn't come from the factory with nitrogen in the tires.

I wondered about that. Mine has the green caps but I had no idea it meant nitrogen. I just thought someone added the caps as a monitor for tire pressure. Mine have the number 35 or 36 stamped in white letters on them.

Those air caps your talking about, are pressure caps if air falls a few pounds of what listed on the cap they turn red, to show the pressure low.

Green caps do mean Nitrogen. I had my work truck filled with Nitrogen at Big O Tires. After they put green caps on and took off the black ones.

Hi Paul -

They do have those kind of caps - the kind that indicate the pressure - but I think this poster is talking about standard old plastic screw on caps that are green in color instead of black or gray.

The local Chevy dealer puts those ghastly neon green caps on any car which they fill the tires with nitrogen.

best regards -
