Been watching Pass Time on Speed Channel lately and have seen several Vettes pop up on there. The majority of vettes are turning in terrible ETs. One driver had a C6Z06, cammed so he said and he turns in a 12.63. The latest on tonight was a C5Z06, driver said it had heads/cam package 460 rwhp on street tires although the rears were 335s. Completed a 13.33 pass. Come on guys, practice a bit before you go on the show. Good lord, its no wonder vettes are constantly being challenged by Honda civics and minivans on the street. The see highly modified vettes turning 13sec 1/4s and figure vettes must be slower than molasses.

Pass Time takes place at different tracks all over North America. Its coming to Canada this summer. I agree that Vettes have not shown well on the show and I assume its because of poor driving skills (or maybe little white lies about their car).
On the other hand, a C5 Vette won the recent "Motorsport Ranch" series. MR takes place on a private road course in Texas just outside of Dallas. This is a handicapped event whereby the cars receive handicaps based on their qualifying times and a par time that is established by them at prior events on the course. Using this format, you can see a Viper up against a Porsche and a spec Miata or a Mini or just about any other car you can think of. The wife of the guy that won the series runs a 2004 Z16 in the same series and he just blows her away. I find this show much more entertaining then Pass Time and hope they put a new series on soon.

This show isn't the reason Vette's are challenged on the street. They have always been challenged. They want bragging rights that they took down a Vette. Most know they can't beat you, they just want you to put on a show for them.
A friend of mine took his '00 coupe auto with a couple mods down to Montgomery, AL for Pass Time filming this weekend and ran like a 12.3 - I think he said. I thought it was very good. Another guy that lives in my neighborhood has an old LX mustang trunk car, like a '90 or '91 model with a 410 CI. He has nitrous and all that stuff. It is a street car but he mostly races it. It was built for 1/8th mile but he ran it on the same pass time and ran like a 9.80 in the 1/4th. That is moving! If you see it on the series it is a silver car with 410CILX for the license plate, and it has 91X wrote on the back window. The guy's name is Donnie.
I made a run on Pass Time last Friday at Montgomery. Unfortunately I did bog the launch because the pro-tree caught me off guard. My 1/8 mile time was .3 seconds off my good times, so I was a little disappointed with the 12.33 @ 115 mph ¼ run. But compared to the other times listed above, I don't feel too bad about that. My car makes 380 rwhp... for now.
