Im a former 02 C5 owner looking at a 2001 Z06. What are the major differences between the 01 vs 02-04 Z06s? Where was the extra power made from? Thanks guys. Cant wait to to wave again

Thanks guys. I ran through the FAQs but I still have a misunderstanding with something. The 02-04 had a more aggressive cam, correct? Would putting the exact same cam, with the exact same mods, in an 02-04 and in an 01 make the same power? Sorry if this beating a dead horse

I'd say yes since those differences made the bump from 385 to 405 HP. It would be easy to bump the HP up on the 01 with some basic mods.

It might be closer, some of the power came by eliminating the PUP cats, lower restriction MAF and airbox. So if mods include headers without cats or with aftermarket cats and an aftermarket air intake then it will be very close to an 02 with the same mods. But it would be silly to put an 02 cam in an 01 for maybe 10hp when you can get 30-50 and still be very streetable with a mild to midrange aftermarket cam IMO.

I had read that the exhaust vavle is different in the 02-04 also (hollow stem sodium filled = lighter) and the springs are different as well as the clutch and pressure plate (to handle the added power).

but if the price is right! go 4 it!! the Z;s are great!!
