I just installed a new battery today. I am going on vacation on Saturday and the vette will sit for two weeks. Since I have a new battery, do I need to use my battery tender while I'm away? With my old battery, I never did. Since I won't put any 'miles' on the new battery, I wasn't sure if this would be an issue.
My Opinion, since your new battery has been sitting in a parts warehouse for awhile, fully charged a couple more weeks shouldn't hurt at all. If its not too inconvenient to hook up Mr. Tender, then I would but for a couple of weeks, you really shouldn't have too. I left mine sit for 4weeks once and when I came back it was still at 12volts maybe a little more. Enjoy your time off and your baby will be just fine when you get back.

I always like to put a little charge on a new battery just to top it off. Since you are going for 2 weeks might be a good idea. All modern cars now really like a full battery, now days the battery is the most important part of the electrical system if not the whole car!

Thanks.
Hi, yes you should hook it up. Even though it is new, the vette has quite a drain while idle. It shouldn't kill the new battery in 2 weeks, but it won't help it either. Ultimatly you will get the full planned in length of use from the battery only by keeping it at it's full charge. I hook mine up if I'm not using it for more than 2 days.
Good Luck.
