VIN number on export C5
He has run into trouble when passing his yearly inspection, because they found that the VIN number, as engraved on the car frame, does not perfectly match the regular VIN, as seen through the windshield. Both numbers are in fact the same, but the number on the frame has a letter "A" after the 17 position VIN
This car had been inspected before, and nobody seemed to notice or care. The car was imported new by GM Spain, and it seems they generally engrave the VIN on the LHS frame, visible when you open the hood
Does anybody know what that letter "A" stands for? My friend is going to call GM and see if they can offer an explanation, but perhaps you guys can do a quicker job
Thanks a lot to you all
