Sellers WANT to SELL! (Makes sense - right?) Deal should have been consumated within the week. Something happened: He died/sick/got into an accident/etc.; emergency in the family; cold feet; found someone who made him a better offer. However, three weeks is way too long.
I HATE people who can not spare 2 minutes in their life and do not have the courtsy to pick up the phone and explain what happened.
Move on! If he calls you back and you're still interested - NEGOTIATE a better deal!!!
It's possible the seller has changed his mind or has been out of town. It might be the exact car you wanted, but it wasn't meant to be.
Maybe you should leave one last message that you'll assume he's changed his mind if he doesn't contact you within x days?
I made an agreement to buy my car locally with a handshake. The seller wouldn't take my deposit. He said if I didn't come back the next weekend with the funds, he'd put it back up for sale. He had it on EBAY with no reserve and didn't really understand what that meant. He was an Italian immigrant with two other beautiful Corvettes.
The seven days between that handshake and the following weekend when I had his certified check was a long time. The drive home was worth it though...

Your absolutely right.....I mean Im not upset or anything. But like you said, I would just like a phone call or something, just to let me know whats going on.
thanx for the responses! I guess I will continue on my search!
Sounds like your seller has gotten cold feet too bad he did not at least have the common courtesy to let you in on that .Keep looking and Iam sure you,ll find the right car for you.

I believe things happen for good reasons. That car was not meant to be; there's a better one waiting for you somewhere. He did you a favor.
haha, my mom used to tell me the same thing growing up, I'm starting to believe thats true!
I tell it to my kids (now grown) when $hit happens. They believe it and most times it's right. My daughter's wavering on it a bit where boyfriends are concerned though.

No, I still havent heard back from him......I mean its not really a big deal. But I think it would be common courtesy to at least make an attempt to get a hold of me and let me know whats going on with the vette. I hope someone would have more integrity than that. I have seen the vette sitting outside, where he keeps it, so I'm assuming it's not sold.
