Default Would this work?

I'm figuring out which mods I want and am considering making my own baffle... it doesn't seem too hard since new ones are $150.

If I bought some 3" wide foam, cut it to fit and wrapped it in black vinyl, would that be suitable? It seems as if the 3" foam would be a better sound deadener than wood and lighter in weight. Also it could be cut to size larger than the actual opening and "squish" into place for a nice tight fit.

Has anybody done this, or does it even sound like a good idea?

John

I think what you are refering to is a partition.
And yes many people here have made their own using different materials. There are several posts in here of people who offer the templates to make your own(as well as some other cool ideas) so you can cut out that hassel.......just use the search for posts on partitions.

Here's some to get you started.

Thank you. I think I'm starting to like the idea of an amp rack or sub box integrated into the baffle. Tough decision.
