Is it normal for the LS1 motors to burn some oil? I noticed at times blue smoke when I start the car up then clear at idle. It will also puff some blue smoke when I give it gas and then go away. When I hold the gas at 3,4K steady it is clear? I do have a oil catch can and the car has only 24K mi on it. It is a 1999 and I do have the Comp dual valve springs on it.
Some people told me it can be my valve seals and I have just replaced them. Did I waste my time in doing this?
I was going to say valve seals also . I had an rs camaro that would smoke a blue tint but it only did it first thing in the morning or if it sat about 8 hours then on the first try it would smoke and thats the only time ...
My '99 started smoking like that after having the stem seals replaced. Turned out that they did them wrong and messed them up. Re-did the job correctly and no more issue

Did you know what they did wrong? It seems pretty straight forward. Remove and tap them in till it is seated.

According to the place that I had do the re-work, they said the 1st place must have used the wrong tool. They said they were out of the proper shape when installed.
Not sure what years were involved but GM used some lower tension rings for a while and they tended to use oil especially in higher engine speeds under low load,(like driving at city speeds in lower gears instead of shifting to a higher gear) you could have one of these motors.
