What does Black Chrome Really Look Like... the answer inside
We've gotten tons of Emails and PM's asking for more pics of the Black Chrome items to come. Today we were working on the art for the Black Chrome Engine Cap Set. We took about a 1000 pics. These were the more interesting ones.
Black Chrome takes on a multitude of different shades and tones.
This is as close to a non reflective angle as you can get.
This angle shows several different tones. As you can see, Black Chrome picks up color just like chrome. Notice green from the trees
They look good but, the pictures of the black chrome look like regular chrome. If you had not captioned the pictures, I would have thought the difference between the pictures was the light. Can you show us a picture of a black chrome piece next to a regular chrome piece to show the differences between the two finishes?
Thanks.

I was relating that to Dennis earlier tonight.
They are the hardest thing I have ever tried to take a picture of. We took about 1000 pics today
Black Chrome is really hard to describe. It has a 3D kind of thing going on that changes the pitch and hue depending on what angle you look at it. The direct ambient light also totally changes the look. In direct sunlight, it can almost look like regular chrome. These pictures were taken outside.
This was taken indoors
Sometimes it looks completely black
I'll try and get a pic side by side for you tomorrow.
When asked that now, I just say something like this...
After the Letters and Catch Cans, and Before the Engine Covers...
We have been messing with this for 16 months. Since this has never been done before, it has been quite a project and it kind of occupies it's own time-space-continuim...
