Default Tire wear

I seam to be wearing the inside edge of my front tires. I had it in for a front end alignment twice last year (every six months) and I was show the spec sheet of the alignment to confirming it was zeroed out. The alignment expert suggested toeing the tires in as a solution. I thought camber was the problem. I respect this forum and wanted to get your opinions

Thanks Jim

Others chime in. The factory camber is slightly negative on this car, meaning it will wear more on the inside of the tire than the outside. Well it did on mine anyway.

Is this what you are asking or am I mis reading your question, also I am not sure what zeroed out means and I would not toe in.

Good Luck

The cars do wear the inside of the tires, more so with a Z06 alignment. You should be having a four wheel alignment done, not just the fronts.

I think that this is correct. I have had a bit more wear on the inside edge of each front tire too.

Had my wheels off and noticed the same thing. Front tires wearing on the inside. Have about 12K on them and the inside shows about 1/16" to the wear bar on the inside and about 3/16" to the wear bar on the outside on both front tires. Rear tires look fine no problems there.

I had the same problem. Apparently it is a chronic problem I ruined a set of front tires in 7k miles. Just had a 4 wheel alignment done again, we'll see how this new set of tires holds up.

Negative camber places more stress on the inside edges of tires. The wider the tires the more stress there is. You could probably extend the life of your tires by running less negative camber at the cost of having less cornering power, but you probably never come close to the car's cornering limits anyway.

Are you running GY stock EMTs?

If so, be advised that those tires have a short treadwear life, especially in the front. I wouldn't mess with the alignment, just buy some Michelins

It is strange that you guys are saying inside wear is more common... mine have worn on the outside (slightly more).. Guess I need to have it aligned when I get new tires.

Ive noticed this on both my C5s...inner tire wear on both front tires...on BOTH cars......I run Goodyear RFs on both cars....alignment is RIGHT ON...after 15K miles I rotate my front tires...YES, rotate them...swap the RF for the LF....Literally, break them off the wheels and swap them side for side........that way the worn area is now on the outside and the unworn area is now on the inside......Ive double the life of my tires doing this....I got 30K out of the last set ...

My front's wear on the inside too. Seems a common problem. I'd give up a bit of cornering "dig" for better tire life.

What would happen if the front wheels were set to 0' Camber?

RonJ ...
