Do you replace tire pressure sensor nut, valve core , and O-ring?????
Tire Rack recommends replacing the TPMS nut, valve core, and O-ring when you put on new tires. I searched for a while and couldn't find any info. I think the 0-ring is a good idea (#9 at the hardware store), but why the nut and why the valve core (if its not leaking, even if it is, its not any harder to change the valve core with tires on the car) NAPA, AutoZone, and Advance all sell kits with a nut, 0-ring, valve core, and valve stem cap for about $5 (per wheel). Any input would be greatly appricated. Not that it matters much, but I have a 97.
Thats what makes sense to me, just didn't understand why tire rack would recommend changing the nut and core too. Also that the auto part stores sell the packages of parts and not just the 0-ring. I guess they want my money.
I still haven't figured out what this part from the Tire Rack is for an extra $199. C5PRO I think it has something to do w/ the TPS system.
All I know is that it's added on with a complete mounting.
o-rings, yes, but nut and core is not required in my mind, unless you've buggered up the nut or have had leaking problems with the core. When changing tires it is a good time to remember that the batteries in the TPS last 5 - 7 years - if it has been a while since they were last changed, when you're mounting new tires it would be a good time o change them.
Thanks for the replies, i'm going to only change the O-rings.

3 of my TPMS are original on my '97 w/ 66,000miles. I replaced one about 2 years ago. I'm going to replace the other 3 batteries with my new tires. I would like to see how long they would last, but thats asking for trouble.
