Parking Brake Problem - Different Twist
After my last practice session last Friday at VIR, the car started squeaking badly while in the paddock near the trailer. I moved it around a little bit (rolling, engine off) to bleed brakes, change tires, etc. The more I moved it, the harder it got to move, and the worse the squeaking got. Eventually, I could not pull it into the trailer at all - it just wouldn't budge!
So, up on the stands again and I immediately suspected the parking brake. I pulled the calipers off and sure enough couldn't pull the rear rotors off. I finally managed to bust the DS rear rotor loose (yep, the spring popped out) but much to my disgust, it STILL wouldn't spin as the PS was locked up also. After much banging and cussing I got the PS off too, and same story - adjuster was not cranked way out, nothing looked wrong.
Both cables were fully relleasing, nothing inside looked amiss - any thoughts on this? I ended up pulling all the PB stuff out of both sides to complete the weekend. Then my damn motor blew up in Saturdays race.
But, I'm looking for some help on parking brake stuff - thanks guys.
