I am about to take a long road trip with the wife-yes I am pumped!!!!
So, I plan on packing some tools...just incase. I have non-runflats so here is the list I have complied to bring:
compressor
black jack tire kit
flat head & phillips screw driver
exacto/razor knife (case slitter or whatever the hell you call it)
plyers
lock plyers
work gloves
anything else you carry on a regular basis or add for a road trip?
I also have non runflat tires and pretty much carry the same things you do (no xacto knife) but as a last resort I also carry some tire sealant. I know it will ruin the tire pressure sensor, but if my cell phone won't work (I've got AAA) and I can't plug the tire with my tire plug kit, I'll put in the sealant rather than get stranded in the middle of nowhere.
I carry about the same things, except I've got one of those cheap tool kits with wrenches and sockets in it that comes in a plastic case. It fits in the middle cubby hole.
I carry ratchet/sockets,TORX bits, allen wrenches, pliers, wrenches, various gauge wire/terminals, various size metric bolts/nuts, gloves, tire repair tools, Z06 compressor, flashlight/mirror and a Porsche aluminum scissors jack. It all fits into a compact leather bag for the center cubby hole.
A full assortment of tools for any emergency insures that you'll never need to use them...

last summer's 2800 mile road trip I packed a tire gauge, mini mag-lite, a T15 screwdriver, two spare bulbs, and a halon fire extinguisher. used none of them .
Roll up a small blanket or large towel to lie on. You know a flat isn't going to happen on two week old concrete. A .45 is fine but something smaller should do the trick as well. Good luck and I hope all this prep is a total waste of time and effort!
This flashlight is extremely bright and very small (about 5" long, 1" diameter).... easily stowed in a vette... perfect for the vette. I got mine at Costco for $30. Sleaze-bay has it for more. Its called Leatherman Monarch 500 and its LED.
great thread I just bought a C5 and was wondering what to keep in the car what is the best compressor to get for our vettes. Whats this from a post up a little (Z06 compressor)
